Ostuni, the nearest town is an ancient, noble town, well known for its whitewashed houses that contrast with the pinkish brown stone of the monuments. If you walk through its narrow alleyways you will discover many beautiful churches and buildings. Just past Ostuni near Fasano there are Roman, archaeological ruins at Egnazia.
In the nearby town of Grotte Castellana, daily excursions are arranged to visit the underground caverns. One of the caverns is 1km long and the other one covers 3km.
Don’t miss the stunning baroque town of Lecce. Here you will find many beautiful, piazzas , stunning architecture and an incredible amount of history. There are even the remains of a Roman amphitheatre in the heart of the town. It is possible to spend a whole day in Lecce. Going further south, visit the beautiful fishing port of Otranto, one of the first Greek colonies in Italy in the thirteenth century. Otranto is also famous for its wonderful beaches and clear waters.
Puglia is an area which is famous for castles. One of the most impressive castles to visit near Bari, is the Castel del Monte. You can also visit Trani in the same day with its Romanesque Cathedral. This is a wonderful fishing village and has some excellent seafood restaurants. Ruvo is another interesting town to visit in the same area.
Just 1 km from Fasano there is a zoo safari. This is open daily from April until Mid October.
Just one and a half hours from the property is the fascinating town of Matera in Basilicata. Visit the Sassi and the old churches which are carved from the rocks. You can book a guided tour in advance by contacting the tourist board who speak English
